Micro Four Thirds at River Hong Bao 2020



The River Hong Bao ("red packet") is held annually at the The Float @ Marina Bay in Singapore and is one of the main attractions during the Lunar New Year with displays of huge lanterns.

This year, although I only went to the event during the day, I brought along my Godox TT350o flashgun to combat the contrast of bright sky versus the displays which would be contrastingly darker.

I set my Panasonic GX9 camera on Aperture Priority and set my Panasonic Leica 8-18mm ultra-wide lens to its widest aperture. In this mode, the camera would choose a very fast shutter speed (in the thousandths) so that the sky would not be over-exposed. I then just had to make sure my flashgun was sufficiently lighting up my subject by adjusting the flash compensation on the flash.

2020 is the year of the rat, so you'll see the rat featured in many of these displays.
